ABOUT ME

The concept of memory is the main subject of my works. A memory that elaborates, selects and smoothens the substance of our past by bringing it back in the form of anecdotes, images, utterances.

My name is Paola Boscaini. I was born on the 21st July 1997 in Trento, where I attended the artistic high school A.Vittoria. In October 2016 I moved to Florence to pursue my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, attending the course of Visual Arts, Painting.

My fields of interest are various and span from painting to printmaking, which are in constant reciprocal contamination, but they also include video making and photography.

The concept of memory is the main subject of my works. A memory that elaborates, selects and smoothens the substance of our past by bringing it back in the form of anecdotes, images, utterances. A memory that crystallizes and sometimes betrays memories so as to save them from oblivion, giving them a meaning and a shape which happens to not always be like the original one.

Over the last period, another subject which has been playing an important role is the city and the concept of inhabiting a space.

Starting from these speculations, I worked on different layers, overlapping places, events, and subjects that stratify themselves creating a whole new landscape rich in new potential meanings.
